Walmart, Costco included in fruit recall

Possible listeria contamination has prompted a recall of peaches, nectarines, plums and pluots stocked in some local grocery outlets, CNN reports.

The recall affects fruit packed at Wawona Packing Co.'s of Cutler, Calif., warehouse between June 1 and July 12, CNN reported.

Area stores that may have stocked the fruit include Walmart and Sam's Club and Costco, according to the station. No illnesses have been reported so far.

The listeria bacteria can trigger diarrhea, fever and muscle aches, with more severe symptoms in pregnant women, the elderly or those with compromised immune systems.

People who bought the fruits should return them to the store for a refund, CNN said.
