ATHENS, Ga. - Police are searching for a gunman who robbed an Athens sex shop and pistol whipped a customer who refused to hand over his wallet.

The Athens Banner-Herald reports the armed robbery was reported at about 1:30 a.m. Friday at Elations, a local store that sells adult novelties.

Employees told police a man wearing a black hoodie and a red bandanna entered the store pointing a gun and demanding money. Police say one of the store clerks handed over an undisclosed sum of cash, and one customer who wouldn't give up his wallet got struck in the head with the butt of the robber's gun.

Witnesses said the robber fled toward the rear of the store. No arrests had been announced Friday afternoon.
