Weekend Mashup: July 25-27

If you have a boring weekend, that's on you.

Lots of local music with a couple dashes of touring talent. See you out and about, Chattanooga!

FRIDAY

photo Function band members are, from left, John Rose, Hunter White, Darren Self, Joshua Allen, Brittany Ammons and Justin McBath.

Function at Nightfall

If you've never checked them out, you'll be instantly converted. They killed it at Riverbend and grooved their way to the top of the pile in the Road to Nightfall competition. This Nightfall is going to be funky.

The Breakfast Club

You love the '80s? If you can quote John Hughes flicks and walk like an Egyptian, put on the ritz at Rhythm and Brews.

Bobby Bare Jr.

Junior has earned - or at least inherited - his musical street cred; his dad and namesake is a multiple Grammy winner. Fun fact: He does private or public "house parties" with just himself, a guitar and a tambourine underfoot.

Chattanooga Showcase

A low-key intimate local show-and-tell session featuring a sneak peak of the Twisted Roots (theatrical show based on poet and naturalist Emma Bell Miles), Robert Cyphers, and a reading by (former Ruby Falls tour guide, poet and local character) Ray Zimmerman.

Logan Murrell

Think Taylor Swift, but more homegrown and less crossover material. At just 18, Murrell sites Dolly Parton as an influence and has been singing since she was three. She returns to the Foundry Friday and Saturday night.

SATURDAY

Bellydance Flash Mob

You might not be equipped to participate in it, but it's worth looking around to see if you can spot it. Movement Arts Collective is organizing this spontaneous dance event to celebrate National Dance Day.

Ignite Concert

Music, dance, rap and spoken word performed by local talent at Chattanooga Metropolitan Church.

The Ultimate Music Showcase

An ambitious name for performers with big ambitions - try out for your chance to get monetary support, promotion and a national tour to jumpstart your music career.

Hat Trick Show

No telling who's up first because the order is decided by a drawing out of a hat. Some local tried-and-true performers are taking the stage: Jordan Hallquist, Amber Fults and Soul Mechanic.

SUNDAY

Bloody Mary Tasting Contest

Ease into the bright lights of Sunday morning by fortifying yourself with a Bloody Mary. Sample the best concoctions from restaurants around the city and benefit Blood Assurance - you'll feel redeemed for your Saturday night indulgences.

Slava Korsak

Korsak was a finalist on Ukraine's Got Talent (yep) and was also on the Ukraine version of the X-Factor. Now he's performing stateside to raise money for ministry. #themoreyouknow
