Cleveland-Bradley County GreenwayA $500 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of the person or people responsible for a weekend burglary and vandalism spree in Cleveland, Tenn.
"That whole crime spree was pretty widespread," said Detective Matt Jenkins of the Cleveland Police Department. "We had a city school vandalized, multiple businesses vandalized, political campaign signs vandalized. It's not the kind of thing we want going on in the heart of Cleveland."
Jenkins said the department expects to make arrests by the end of this week. He said he has a few possible suspects in mind but needs more information.
The burglaries and vandalism occurred over the weekend around the Cleveland Greenway and its parking area, Stuart School and Perry's Petals.
"I'm sure it's kids or someone with nothing to do," said Kelly Alston, manager of Perry's Petals.
But the damage is stifling.
Vandals spray-painted both of the company's business delivery vans with profanity, covering the windshields, windows, signs and license tags.
"It's not something you would want customers to see," Alston said.
In the meantime, her store is using another vehicle to make deliveries.
Besides wondering who would have done such a thing, the main question is why.
"I'm still trying to figure out the whole reason," Jenkins said.
