Several roads closed for Riverbend festival

Riverside Drive/Riverfront Parkway between Aquarium Way and Molly Lane is closed for the Riverbend Festival through June 19.

The southbound exit ramp on Veterans Bridge; Power Alley between Riverfront Parkway and Aquarium Way, and Chestnut Street between Riverfront Parkway and Aquarium Way also are closed for the duration of the festival.

Roundabout detour at Jenkins/Igou Gap

Construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Jenkins and Igou Gap roads will require detours through Aug. 15.

The intersection is closed to eastbound and northbound traffic. An intersection bypass is provided for westbound and southbound traffic. Detour routes are posted.

Celebrate trails at Camp Jordan

A celebration of National Trail Day is set for Saturday at Camp Jordan Park, sponsored by East Ridge Parks and Recreation, Chattanooga and Outdoor Chattanooga.

Outdoor Chattanooga will host canoe rides for $10 per person from 1-4 p.m. and free use of bicycles for those who want to borrow a bike to ride the Camp Jordan Loop and/or the Brainerd Levee. Reservations are required for canoes.

Canoeists from around the region are invited to come thank the volunteers who cleaned up extensive logjams to open the Camp Jordan Canoe Trail on South Chickamauga Creek.

East Ridge Parks and Recreation Director Stump Martin said the south creek launch has been completed from funding provided by the Lyndhurst Foundation. Tower Construction is working on the north Cherokee Launch at Camp Jordan for opening sometime this summer.

A litter pick-up along the creek will begin at 11 a.m.

The deadline for canoe reservations is Wednesday. Call Jim Ledbetter at 423-322-3691 or email 1jimled@gmail.com.
