Hill was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga and Taylor was transported to Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton for treatment.

Troopers are trying to determine who was driving when the crash happened. Final results and charges are pending an investigation by the state agency's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.

The accident happened about 5:15 a.m. near mile-marker 338 in the northbound lanes, officials said.
