Victims in I-75 crash in Whitfield County identified

The victims in a fatal Wednesday morning crash on Interstate 75 north of Dalton, Ga., have been identified as Chattanooga residents.

A woman person riding in the front of the vehicle who was killed in the crash has been identified as 26-year-old Kenniqua Johnson. Another front-seat occupant was identified as Famica Hill, 32, and the injured rear-seat passenger is LaKendra Taylor, 34, according to the Georgia Highway Patrol.

Hill was airlifted to Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga and Taylor was taken to Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton for treatment.

Troopers are trying to determine who was driving when the crash happened. Final results and charges are pending an investigation by the state agency's Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.

The accident happened about 5:15 a.m. near mile marker 338 in the northbound lanes, officials said.

Troopers said the driver lost control of the vehicle when the left tire blew out, causing it to leave the road and continue down an embankment where it overturned.

The driver and front-seat passenger, who were not wearing seat belts, were ejected from the vehicle, officials said.
