Body found in Tennessee River in Chattanooga shows no signs of foul play

The Chattanooga Police Department reports that an initial viewing of a body found in the Tennessee River Monday showed no signs of foul play.

Police responded to 4301 Amnicola Highway around 1:30 p.m. after local fishermen found the body floating just off shore.

The body was transported by Hamilton County EMS to the Medical Examiner's Office for examination.

Police said in a news release that the victim was a white male and authorities are attempting to make contact with family members.

The investigation is ongoing.
