A pair of fishermen discovered a body floating close to where the South Chickamauga Creek empties into the Tennessee River on Monday afternoon.

Police used a boat ramp at Tennessee River Park off Amnicola Highway as a headquarters and taped off the adjacent parking lot while the Hamilton County Sheriff's marine division sent boats toward the location of the body.

An ambulance idled in the parking lot while officers worked to retrieve the body and process the scene.

Authorities had not identified the body by press time.
