Eighteen-year-old Damon Avery Johnson, who was arrested on May 28 on charges of aggravated sexual battery and underage possession of alcohol, had signed a letter of intent to play at Georgia Highlands College next year. But Raymond Carnley, the college's Chief Advancement Officer, said the school revoked its scholarship offer after Johnson's arrest.
Carnley said school policies require officials to strip prospective athletes of scholarships if they have been arrested.
Gilmer County Sheriff's Office investigators say Johnson, Fields Benjamin Chapman and Andrew Isaac Haynes penetrated a female Calhoun High student against her will on May 10-11 at an after prom party in an Ellijay, Ga., cabin. All three face aggravated sexual battery charges.
