ArtsBuild seeks entries in Creative Juices art contest

Saturday, May 24, 2014

Chattanooga-area high school students have until 5 p.m. Monday, June 16, to enter an art contest to promote an upcoming fundraiser.

ArtsBuild (formerly Allied Arts) will debut Creative Juices: Breakfast on the Bridge To Support Arts Education from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 13, on the Walnut Street Bridge. The contest winner's artwork will be featured on the event's marketing materials, and the artist will receive a $250 cash prize.

The contest is open to local students entering grades 9-12. Artwork must include an image of the Walnut Street Bridge and be no larger than 9 by 12 inches. Any two-dimensional media will be accepted (pencil, watercolor, ink, photography, etc.). All submissions must be original and created by the student.

"Since Creative Juices is centered on raising funds for arts education, we really wanted to feature original student artwork prominently in the marketing materials for the event," says Rodney Van Valkenburg, ArtsBuild's director of grants and initiatives.

The event will raise money to support ArtsBuild's education programs and will include food, art activities and entertainment.
