'Most wanted' list adds 2 men

NASHVILLE - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has added two men to the state's Top Ten Most Wanted list.

They are Samuel A. McCurry, 47, of Gruetli-Laager, and Cashman J. Perkins, 31, of Chattanooga.

McCurry is wanted on four counts of aggravated sexual battery and rape of a child. Perkins is wanted on charges of criminal homicide, aggravated domestic assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.

For each man, there is a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.

Red Clay sets workshop

BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. - Friends of Red Clay and Red Clay State Historic Park in Bradley County will host a teacher's workshop titled, "An Historic Tour through Cherokee Lands," for area K-12, private and home-school teachers.

The workshop, on June 17 and July 15 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., is designed to help teachers in interpret the history and culture of the Cherokee Indians who once inhabited the Southeastern United States.

Cagle Mountain cruise-in planned

DUNLAP, Tenn. - The Cagle Mountain Volunteer Fire Department will host a cruise-in and cookout Saturday to celebrate the near completion of the community's new fire hall, next to its community center.

"The shindig starts at 12 noon CDT, and the cruise-in goes from 12 to 4 p.m.," said Melissa Mackey, auxiliary member and fundraising organizer for the department.

The Scenic City Camaro Club in Chattanooga will be among the groups making the trip to Cagle Mountain, she said.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served from noon until 4 p.m. and a fish fry starts at 4 and continues until 6 p.m., Mackey said. Lunch is $5, and the fish fry is $6.

Proceeds benefit the department's building fund.

Woman who set fire sentenced

DECATUR, Ala. - A woman who pleaded guilty to setting her Hartselle home on fire with her daughter inside was given a suspended 10-year prison sentence.

The Decatur Daily reported 54-year-old Bridget Owens Easterly was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty March 5 to first-degree arson.

Easterly told the judge she has bipolar disorder and was on the wrong medication and feeling paranoid when she set the fire in 2011. Authorities say Easterly's 16-year-old daughter was asleep in the home at the time.

Easterly's attorney said her client has received proper care and isn't a danger to the public.
