Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam's public schedule carried a notice that he would be in Asia this week on an economic development trip.
No other details were divulged, and his office has been reluctant to elaborate.
Haslam spokesman David Smith this week said Haslam would be in Japan and South Korea but declined to give more details on the basis that the governor was holding "private meetings" with business prospects.
Haslam left on the trip on Saturday and is scheduled to return on Friday. The governor's office and the state Department of Economic Development could not immediately provide a breakdown of how much the trip is costing.
