73-year-old Tennessee man injured in shootout with alleged burglars

A 73-year-old Hamblen County man armed with a shotgun surprised two burglars coming out of his granddaughter's home, prompting a gun battle that left him and a suspect injured.

Don Grubb who lives on Long Creek Road near his granddaughter's residence sustained a 12-gauge shotgun blast to his face, shattering his jaw, according to the Hamblen County Sheriff's Office.

But Grubb's 12-gauge shotgun also found its mark during the exchange of 11 shotgun rounds, wounding one of the alleged burglars, the Sheriff's Office said.
