Jackson is known for his country sound, stories and comedy.

Wade Jackson, a showman from the early days of country and western music, will sit in with Chattanooga band Bounty Hunter at this month's Sunset Concert Series show at the North River Civic Center.

Jackson has traveled and performed with an array of country stars. Among them: Jimmie Rodgers, Red Sovine, Grandpa Jones, George Morgan, Nat Stuckey, Johnny Cash and Stonewall Jackson, who happens to be his brother. Incidentally, it was Wade who wrote Stonewall's biggest hit, "Don't Be Angry," released in 1965.

Wade Jackson spent 20 years in the military (first in the Army, then in the Air Force) and entertained the troops for most of that time. While stationed at Rhein-Main Air Base in Germany on his last overseas tour before retirement, he organized and led the String Kings Band, in addition to managing four other bands.

During the Korean War, his biography shows, he was literally borrowed from his 24th Infantry Division foxhole to supplement the all-GI talent on a Special Services Show Tour.

He also gained fame as an entertainer on the Grand Ole Opry Stars Road Shows. Jackson's performances often find him switching out instruments -- he plays fiddle, banjo, mandolin and lead guitar -- and adding stories and comedy to the mix.

Bounty Hunter will feature Charlie Taylor on rhythm guitar, J.D. Angel on steel guitar, Jimmie Meeks on bass, Mike Robertson on electric guitar and Cris Tankaer on drums.
