Fire at North Shore home believed to be arson

A fire that caused $25,000 worth of damage at a Chattanooga home this morning is believed to have been intentionally set.

Chattanooga firefighters responded to 404 Somerville Avenue shortly after midnight.

Firefighters had to force their way into the house. They were able to contain the blaze to the rear of the house, according to a news release.

No injuries were reported.

The house has been unoccupied for about two years and appeared to be in the process of being remodeled, the release stated. There was no power to the structure.
