David Jason Goode was taken into custody tonight about 200 yards from the Bradley County Sheriff's Office mobile command post that had been stationed at Michigan Avenue Elementary School.

Goode knocked on the door of a home on Howard Road. When the homeowner answered he recognized Goode from media reports as the person the Bradley County Sheriff's Office was searching for. A warning shot was fired and the suspect detained for deputies who arrived within minutes.

Howard Road is about a mile from where Goode fled into the woods Sunday afternoon and within the perimeter established for the search.

Goode had scratches and cuts from going through woods and was taken to the hospital to be checked out before release to the Bradley County jail,

He has been charged with failure to appear, violation of probation, theft over $1,000, and two counts of aggravated assault.
