U.S. Security gets VW contract

U.S. Security Associates Inc. has opened a new office in Chattanooga to support a large contract with Volkswagen and other area clients including Whirlpool and Aldi, the company said Friday.

The business, the nation's fourth-largest uniformed security provider, employs about 100 people in the Chattanooga area. The Chattanooga office is at 6101 Enterprise Park Drive, Suite 900, in the Enterprise Business Center, less than three miles from the VW plant.

It also recently opened a St. Louis office. Both office locations are natural extensions of U.S. Security's branch network, with other locations in Nashville and Knoxville.

Smuttynose comes to Chattanooga

Smuttynose Brewing Co. will start selling its beers in Chattanooga on Tuesday. The move is the 20-year-old New Hampshire company's first foray into Tennessee, and is made possible by Smuttynose's brand new brewery, said minister of propaganda JT Thompson.

"After three or four years of brewing at capacity, we finally have the ability to say 'yes' to new markets," the McCallie School graduate said.

Smuttynose beer will be distributed by Carter Distributing and will debut on tap in the North Shore growler shop Heaven and Ale. Beer drinkers can expect to see Finestkind IPA, Old Brown Dog, Bouncy House IPA, Vunderbar Pilsner, Shoals Pale Ale, Robust Porter and Summer Weizen at events in Chattanooga throughout the month.
