Chattanooga Lookouts lose 12-10 in first game Monday

The Chattanooga Lookouts took control of Sunday's suspended game soon after it resumed Monday evening in the bottom of the third inning, but the visiting Birmingham Barons scored eight runs in the eighth and ninth innings and won 12-10 at AT&T Field.

The teams played a seven-inning game later Monday.

A three-run home run by Chattanooga's Darnell Sweeney, who leads active Southern League players in batting average, gave the home team an 8-4 lead, but Birmingham scored three runs in the top of the eighth. The Lookouts made it 9-7 in the bottom of the inning but gave up five runs in the ninth, and a homer in the bottom was not enough.
