BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Birmingham police say a woman was hospitalized after being shot in the face while driving along Interstate 59.
Police say a fight between two groups of people at a local night club carried over onto Interstate 59 early Monday morning. Lt. Sean Edwards tells AL.com the shooter fired through the victim's back window and a bullet struck the 25-year-old woman in her face. Authorities say the woman was driving at the time, and her boyfriend was a passenger.
Edwards says the woman was transferred from University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital to UAB's Callahan Eye Hospital for surgery.
No arrests have been made and a detailed description of the suspect wasn't immediately available.
