GA teen accused of killing grandmother with ball bat

JACKSON, Ga. — A Georgia teenager is accused of beating his grandmother to death with a baseball bat south of Atlanta.

Authorities say 18-year-old JeNorman Bland faces several charges, including murder.

Butts County Sheriff Gray Long tells WSB Radio that Bland is accused of chasing his grandmother through her house and repeatedly striking her with the bat. She was found dead inside her home around 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Long said Bland told investigators he went to his grandmother's house asking for a ride to a nearby store, but she was getting ready for work. Long says Bland then went outside, grabbed the bat and went back inside the house. That's when investigators say he began swinging.

It wasn't known early today whether Bland has an attorney.

The grandmother's name wasn't immediately released.
