Three Chattanooga area teams fall in midstate basketball sectionals

Walker Valley in Class AAA, Brainerd in AA and Sale Creek in Class A lost TSSAA boys' basketball sectionals in the midstate Tuesday night.

Brainerd fell 50-43 at Upperman after being outscored 19-9 in the fourth quarter. The Panthers (22-8) got 13 points from Tyree Stubbs and 11 from De'V Moore but made only four of 14 free throws, compared to 12 of 16 for the winning Bees (28-6).

Walker Valley lost 69-41 to second-ranked Siegel, which takes a 31-1 record into next week's state tournament. Lukas Korn led the Mustangs (23-11) with 12 points, while Charles Clark and Aden Burton scored 25 and 22 for the Stars. The Murfreesboro led only 8-7 after a quarter but scored 20, 21 and 20 the next three.

Sale Creek lost 101-47 at Goodpasture (30-1), which made 15 3-point shots and had six double-figure scorers, led by Chris Kennedy with 20 points, Christian Lynn with 18 and Trevor Randolph with 16. Lance Burton scored 10 to lead the Panthers.
