MCHS Gospel Choir presents concert 'Worship Is a Lifestyle' - March 8

The MCHS Gospel Choir will present its annual show at 5 p.m. Saturday, March 8, in the auditorium of McMinn County High School, 2215 Congress Parkway in Athens, Tenn. A free spaghetti dinner will be served in the cafeteria after the show.

The concert theme is "Worship Is a Lifestyle," meant to encourage members of the community to offer up their lives for worship, rather than merely two hours on Sunday morning or Wednesday night.

According to director Sarah Dalbey in the McMinn County High School Fine Arts Department, the choir is an after-school community ensemble made up of McMinn County, McMinn Central and Meigs County high school students as well as several home-schooled students in the area. It was founded in 2008 by several students who so enjoyed gospel, praise and worship music that they hung around after classes were dismissed just to keep singing.

Choir members dedicate their fall to learning music and preparing for the spring tour season. Their weekends in the spring are spent singing in churches.

Tickets to the concert are $5 and will be available at the door.
