The fourth-seeded Chattanooga State women's basketball team won its quarterfinal Thursday in the TCCAA/NJCAA Region VII tournament at Roane State, 81-78 over Dyersburg State, but third-seeded Cleveland State lost 71-63 to Southwest Tennessee. That ended the Lady Cougars' season at 19-9, but Chattanooga State (15-13) plays undefeated and nationally second-ranked Walters State at 6 tonight in the semifinals. Walters beat Columbia State 80-44. All-TCCAA second-teamer Simone Smith had 19 points and 12 rebounds for Chatt State's Lady Tigers, and first-teamer Araya Flemings and second-teamer Amber Howard scored 14 and 13 points with Tariana Carter adding 11. Cleveland State first-teamer Jamesha Mosley had 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Jara Gasper scored 17 with 5-for-8 3-point shooting. In the men's All-TCCAA balloting, Cleveland State's Keevin Tyus made the first team and Chatt State's Nick Scott and Dajion Williams were second-team selections.

• Ish Sanders from Cleveland High School joined Carson-Newman teammate Antoine Davis as first-team All-South Atlantic Conference basketball players for the second year in a row. Sanders is averaging 20 points a game, fourth most in the SAC, and had 28 plus four assists and three steals in the 19-8 Eagles' 80-72 loss to Coker on Wednesday. He hit four 3-point shots and 12 of 13 free throws.

Softball

• Hannah Akamine's two first-game home runs and Rainey Gaffin's second-game no-hitter in her first college start highlighted second-ranked Tennessee's 9-0 and 8-0 wins over Wright State on Wednesday in Knoxville. Ellen Renfroe struck out nine in her six innings in the first game for the Lady Vols (17-1), and Taylor Koenig hit a three-run homer in game two.

• Lee University won 5-3 in nine innings and lost 2-1 in a softball doubleheader Wednesday at Bryan College in Dayton. Olivia Gore went 3-for-4 with the walk-off RBI single, Katelyn Bowen was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Sarah Hundley pitched a six-hitter with seven strikeouts in the win for Bryan (7-8), after Jill Davis drove in two runs, Bowen scored two and Kirstie Jennings and Heidi Daniel each was 2-for-4 in the loss. Ana Coscorrosa had two doubles and four RBIs in the first game for Lee (10-11), and pitchers Angie Hughes and Annabeth Pruett combined for 16 strikeouts. Dominique Hannah doubled, singled and batted in the Lady Flames' run in game two, and Hailey Clark was 2-for-3.

Lacrosse

• The Sewanee women's lacrosse team dropped to 5-2 for the season with a 10-9 loss Wednesday night to visiting Adrian. Sewanee outshot Adrian 27-17 but committed a season-high 28 turnovers, including 18 in the first half. Wittney Reed and Mallory Grimm scored two goals each for the Tigers, Grimm with an assist, and Sally Anne Greenwood had three assists and one goal.

Boxing

• The Red Bank Boxing Club will host fighters from throughout the region Saturday starting at 5 p.m. at the Luken Sports Facility in the Red Bank ballfield complex. Ten teams will be represented. Admission costs $7 for adults; ages 17-under get in free.
