An Oldfort, Tenn., man suspected in an armed robbery early Sunday at a Kangaroo mart in Bradley County was arrested after he was located by a tracking dog.

Patrol deputies responding to a 911 call were told the robber entered the 2300 Springplace Road business around 1:30 a.m. Sunday and asked for the gas pump to be switched on. When the clerk went to perform other work in the store, she was confronted by the man, who was armed with a shotgun and demanded the store's cash, according to the Bradley County Sheriff's Office.

A vehicle abandoned after an accident in the 4200 block of Trewhitt Road matched a description the clerk had given authorities, and a tracking dog brought to that scene led deputies to a location near Trewhitt Road and Armstrong Road where they found Scott Edward Poole, 44, of Oldfort, Tenn.

Poole, the registered owner of the pickup truck, is charged with aggravated robbery, theft over $500 and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

The sheriff's office's Criminal Investigations Division is continuing its investigation.
