A small aircraft likely on its way to McMinnville, Tenn., for repairs made a forced landing in a Marion County field on Tuesday, the Marion County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

Detective Gene Hargis said the crash happened close to Interstate 24 to mile marker 146.

The FAA is sending a representative to investigate the incident.

The pilot likely ran out of gas, Hargis said.
