After weeks of complaints about traffic snarls from snarling drivers trying to use the Signal Mountain exit on U.S. 27 North, an additional lane has opened today.

Two exit lanes now are available for drivers heading toward Signal Mountain and one is open toward Red Bank.

The Signal Mountain exit is one piece of a $102 million Tennessee Department of Transportation project to widen U.S. 27 and redo interchanges at Signal Mountain Road, Dayton Boulevard and Manufacturers Road.
