Hamilton County's jobless rate of 7.1 percent in January is down from December

The Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development has announced Hamilton County's jobless rate dropped in January by a tenth of a percent to 7.1 percent.

The department said Davidson County had the lowest metro rate in the state at 5.3 percent in January. That was down from 5.6 percent in December.

Knox County's January jobless rate was 5.5 percent, a decrease from 5.7 percent, while Shelby County's rate was 7.2 percent, a decline from 9.1 percent the month before.

Tennessee's unemployment rate in January was 7.2 percent, five-tenths of a percent lower than the revised rate in December. The national jobless rate for January was 6.6 percent, a decline of a tenth of a percent from the preceding month.
