Three-vehicle crash in 7400 block of North Lee Highway

Update: The Bradley County Sheriff's Office has identified Kevin L. Byrwa, 26, of Etowah, Tenn., as the man who died from injuries from a multi-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday morning in the 7400 block of Lee Highway.

A news release said Byrwa was traveling south when his vehicle crossed into the opposite lane, colliding with two other vehicles.

Sandra Overs, 51, of Athens, Tenn., the driver of one of the other vehicles, was taken to a hospital in Athens. Terry D. Hickman, 59, of Cleveland, also another of the drivers, was taken to Skyridge Medical Center in Cleveland for treatment before then being taken to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga.

Traffic investigators report one of the drivers in a three-vehicle crash during the morning rush hour today died later of his injuries at Erlanger Medical Center.

The crash in the 7400 block of North Lee Highway in Cleveland, Tenn., is being investigated by the traffic unit of the Bradley County Sheriff's Office. Traffic deputies say the accident occurred when a southbound vehicle crossed to the opposite lane of travel where it collided with two northbound vehicles.

The three drivers were alone and each required extrication by fire-rescue personnel.

Medical personnel transported two of the injured to hospitals in Cleveland and Athens, Tenn., for treatment. Names of those injured and the victim of the crash will be withheld until notification of relatives.
