CBL buys land for $2.5 million
CBL & Associates Properties paid $2.5 million to developer Larry Armour for the 17 acres in Fort Oglethorpe where CBL plans to build the Parkway Plaza shopping center that will house a Hobby Lobby, Marshalls, Ross Dress for Less and a Rack Room Shoes. That's according to a deed document filed Thursday at the Catoosa County Superior Court Clerk's office.
Armour bought the site next to the Fort Oglethorpe Walmart a little more than a year ago and has imported over 8,000 truckloads of fill material to get it ready for development. Armour helped bring the Cloud Springs Road Costco to Fort Oglethorpe and is bringing a Cabela's hunting and fishing outdoors superstore near Costco that's due to open in fall 2015. He's received close to $7 million from local government between the three projects.
Gold Bond gets training aid
The state of Tennessee will provide $23,850 for worker training at Gold Bond Inc. in Hixson. The grant will provide 16 Gold Bond employees with Lean Training and Spin 2.0. The assistance is part of $750,000 the state is allocating to 37 companies statewide.
"Incumbent worker grants provide critical training and education to employees across the state in the continued effort to have a workforce that meets current marketplace demands," Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam said.
