Crews battle 300-acre blaze near Lookout Mountain in Dade County

The Georgia Forestry Commission is working to contain a roughly 300-acre wildfire near Lookout Mountain in Dade County. Residents of the greater Chattanooga area should expect to be impacted by smoke from this fire throughout the day, the forestry commission said in a news release.

The fire started last night northeast of Trenton near the intersection of Vulcan Drive and Tucker Branch Road.

Forestry commission ground and air crews have nearly contained the fire and will remain on the scene throughout the day due to the high fire danger created by today's low humidity and gusty winds.

The cause of the wildfire, which is estimated to cover around 300 acres, is under investigation.
