This is the barge near the northern bank of the Tennessee River across from the Tennessee Aquarium that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has ordered be removed.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has revoked the permit for B. Allen Casey's barge on the North Shore across from the Tennessee Aquarium.

In a letter to Mayor Andy Berke, Lt. Col., John Hudson said the Corps has ordered Casey to remove the barge structure, mooring poles and cables and associated barge access walkways from its site on the Tennessee River in downtown Chattanooga. The Corps is giving Casey, who filed for personal bankruptcy earlier this month, 60 days to remove the barge, which Casey bought and brought to Chattanooga nearly five years ago hoping to develop a floating restaurant off of Manufacturers Road.

"We applaud this action by the Army Corps of Engineers," Ron Harr, president and CEO of the Chattanooga Chamber, said. "We were glad to join with Mayor Berke, River City Company, the Convention and Visitors Bureau and others in calling for a solution to this issue."

He continued, "Chattanooga's downtown waterfront is the crown jewel of our community's revitalization story, and we must do everything we can to maintain the safety and beauty of this key asset."
