PELL CITY, Ala. - A north Alabama couple has been sentenced in a September 2012 dog attack that killed their 83-year-old neighbor.

AL.com reports Jacqueline and Jerry Lenton, both 57 of Leeds, were sentenced Wednesday in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Jerry Lenton pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was given a 10-year split sentence. He's ordered to spend a year and one day in prison and five years on probation.

Jacqueline Lenton pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide and was given a suspended one year sentence. The woman was ordered to spend two years on probation.
