One dead, two injured in wreck on Highway 58 this morning

The Chattanooga Police Department has reported that an accident on Highway 58 at Champion Road this morning resulted in one fatality and two people being taken to the hospital.

A police department news release said the driver of a 4-door sedan died at the scene. That vehicle was attempting to cross the southbound lane of Highway 58 from Champion Road when it was struck by a 4-door truck traveling southbound on Highway 58.

A juvenile passenger in the sedan was taken to a local hospital.

The driver of the truck also was taken to a hospital, police said.

Southbound Highway 58 traffic is blocked off at Hickory Valley Road and northbound Highway 58 traffic is blocked at Eller Road, police said.

Police are still investigating the two-vehicle accident.
