Cedric Edwards, 20, suffered a gunshot wound to the right upper leg Wednesday while standing outside 7766 Basswood Drive.

A Chattanooga Police Department release said officers had responded to a local hospital concerning a person who had been shot.

Edwards said he had been outside the Basswood Drive address when he noticed a blue four-door vehicle with four black males in front of the residence.

The release said the people in the vehicle started shooting and Edwards was wounded.

He was taken to the hospital for treatment of the nonlife-threatening injury.

The police department said anyone with information on the case should contact 423-698-2525 or Crime Stoppers at 423-698-3333.
