Ethan Collier, a Chattanooga home builder and businessman, will replace Dale Mabee as chairman of the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Regional Planning Commission.

Mabee said he is stepping down to pursue further development of his business and to spend more time with his family. "Planning has been a passion of mine.... During my 20-plus years of service on the commission, I have been honored to serve as a planning commissioner through several mayoral administrations," Mabee said.

Collier's appointment was made by Hamilton County Mayor Jim Coppinger and Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke.

Collier has more than 10 years of experience in the building industry as owner of Collier Construction. He is seen as a pioneer of sustainable building practices that minimize waste and promote energy efficiency.
