• Be The Match blood drive: The Springs Church in The Colonnade, 264 Catoosa Circle, Ringgold, Ga., 11:30 a.m.-3:45 p.m., blood drive for Blood Assurance and Be the Match marrow registration in honor of the Rev. Danny Eller. Must be 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent) and weigh 110 pounds or more to donate blood. 423-867-9420.

• Model search/baby contest: Hamilton Place, noon; Northgate Mall, 4:30 p.m., sponsored by Sunburst Beauty. Baby pageant for boys and girls up to 3 years old. • Tri-State Rose Society: North River Civic Center, 1009 Executive Drive, Suite 102, behind the Northgate Library, 7 p.m., free class with Ron Strahan, Louisiana State University assistant professor of environmental and soil sciences, on various methods of eliminating weeds from flower beds.


• Wilderness survival lecture: Southern Adventist University, Hulsey Wellness Center, Collegedale, Tenn., 7:30 p.m., free, master tracker John McCallum speaks on “Wilderness Survival: Tips and Tricks to Keep You Alive in the Woods”; basic gear and survival priorities will also be discussed.
