Two men pulling a riding lawn mower in a trailer were arrested for theft over $1,000 in Cleveland early Saturday morning after a police officer stopped them because the tail lights of the trailer were not working.

According to a news release, the officer from the Cleveland Police Department pulled over the Toyota 4Runner on Edgewood Drive and asked where the two men had acquired the lawn mower.

After deducing the lawn mower was stolen, the officer went door-to-door in an attempt to locate the owner, speaking with several residents at about 5 a.m.

He eventually located the owners on Peerless Road and realized a metal cable that chained the mower to a tree had been cut. The owner valued the lawn mower at $3,100.

The driver of the vehicle, Gregory Lamb, and his passenger, Michael Gonet, were transported to the Bradley County Judicial Complex. Lamb was also charged with violation of a light law.
