Chattanooga-based American Exchange signs up
American Exchange, a Chattanooga-based online insurance broker, said Monday it has sold 1,600 policies under the new health care exchanges being offered through the Affordable Care Act.
David Yoder, the new CEO of American Exchange, said the new accounts represent $7.1 million in annualized premiums with one more week to go before the March 31 deadline for individuals to enroll in one of the health care exchanges.
Next week, American Exchange will shift its operations to the employer market for small and medium-size businesses that want to transition from group coverage to the individual market, Yoder said.
Grades improve for TVA nukes
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, which lifted its heightened review of TVA's Sequoyah and Browns Ferry nuclear plants earlier this month, will conduct public hearings next week on the performance of the Tennessee reactors.
The NRC said Monday it will discuss its assessment of Sequoyah during a public hearing at 3 p.m. April 2 at the Sequoyah Training Center auditorium in Soddy-Daisy and will conduct a similar hearing the next day near the Watts Bar nuclear power plant in Spring City, Tenn.
NRC concluded that TVA had corrected problems at the two plants and both are now operating in the "green" performance category for all areas of plant operations.
