Location: Trenton is in the center of Dade County, Georgia.

Size: 3.2 square miles

Founded: Trenton was incorporated in 1845. City officials recognized engineers from Trenton, N.J., who had settled in the area.

Population: 2,197

Government: Anthony Emanuel is mayor. City commissioners are Sandra Gray, Terry Powell and Tommy Lawson.

Schools: Dade Elementary, Davis Elementary, Dade County Middle, Dade County High

Attraction: Above the city of Trenton sits Lookout Mountain Flight Park, one of the largest hang-gliding training facilities in the country. Adventurous folks have the option to fly with a certified instructor or pay an instructor to learn how to soar above the treetops.

Traditions: The State of Dade Heritage Festival each year in May celebrates the county's history, focusing on the myths and truths of Dade County threatening to secede from Georgia and the recognition by President Harry Truman of Dade County's return to the Union on July 4, 1945. Georgia had no paved roads connecting to the state's northwestern-most county until 1939.

Fun fact: Dade County claims to have the world's largest-screen drive-in theater, located at 217 Old Hales Road in Trenton.
