Drivers reporting objects falling from overpasses in Birmingham area

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Police are seeking help from the public as they investigate reports of objects falling from highway overpasses in the Birmingham area and damaging cars.

Birmingham police Lt. Sean Edwards said five formal reports have been made in the past two weeks about some kind of object falling or being thrown from highway overpasses and causing damage. Al.com reports that police are also aware of two other incidents.

Many of the cases were reported March 14 and 15 - a Friday and Saturday - along Red Mountain Expressway at the Highland Avenue overpass.

Incidents have also happened along Interstate 20/59 at 31st Street North and near the Interstate 65 interchange.

The most recent reports were made Sunday and Monday.

No injuries have been reported.
