Jury sentences man to death in Augusta, GA, killings

AUGUSTA, Ga. - An east Georgia jury has sentenced a man to death for the killings of three people in Augusta in 2008.

The Augusta Chronicle reports that the sentence for 36-year-old Adrian Hargrove was issued Tuesday, at the conclusion of a 38-day trial.

The Richmond County Superior Court jury decided that Hargrove will serve three death sentences - one for each victim.

The same jury had earlier convicted Hargrove of murder in the Feb. 9, 2008, killings of 18-year-old Allyson Pederson and her parents, Sharon and Andrew Hartley. Prosecutors say Pederson, who was pregnant, and the Hartleys were repeatedly stabbed with a butcher knife and beaten by Hargrove.
