Richard Manning, the man charged with first-degree murder in December's road-rage slaying of a 39-year-old man in East Ridge, has died.
Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond confirmed Manning died shortly after 1 a.m. at Erlanger hospital, where armed guards had been supervising him 24 hours a day. He had been held in the slaying of Norman Gallman.
The mandatory guard detail was costing the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office more than $380 a day, the Times Free Press reported.
Manning suffered a stroke soon after the Dec. 17 incident.
