VW picks new CEO at Chattanooga Volkswagen plant

Christian Koch, a managing director at Volkswagen's operations in Saxony, Germany, is slated to become the new chief executive for Volkswagen's Chattanooga plant.

Koch will replace Frank Fischer, who came to Chattanooga nearly six years ago to head the $1 billion facility. Fischer is expected to shift to VW's Emden, Germany, plant.

Koch came to Volkswagen in 1990. Between 1991 and 1998 he worked in the aggregates and components production planning technology in the company's Salzgitter, Germany, engine plant.

From 2005 to 2007, he served as general manager at Shanghai Volkswagen Powertrain Co. Ltd. in China. He also was an executive vice president for production, logistics and technical coordination at Volkswagen Group China in Beijing. Between 2010 and 2013 he was involved in building a new car factory in FAW -Volkswagen Chengdu Branch in China.
