East Ridge

Location: East Ridge is the first Tennessee city motorists enter as they travel north on Interstate 75 from Georgia to Tennessee. On all other sides besides East Ridge's south end, the town is surrounded by Chattanooga.

Size: 8.3 square miles

Founded: 1921

Population: 21,291

Government: Five-member city council, which includes the mayor. The city manager is appointed by the council.

Attraction: Camp Jordan has long been considered the pride of East Ridge, with 275 acres of recreation fields, walking trails and performance centers. The park attracts tournaments for a range of sports, along with other concerts and conventions.

Schools: East Ridge Elementary, Spring Creek Elementary, East Ridge Middle School, East Ridge High School

Landmark: Learn more about the city's background at the East Ridge History and Archive. The center is located at 1510 Tombras Ave. and is open by appointment only. There you can peruse old yearbooks, election memorabilia and newspaper articles about the city.

Fun fact: East Ridge's Camp Jordan is most recently home to a new 19-hole disc golf course, which spans the entire length of the park. It was designed in 2012 to be a "championship course."
