Location: In northern Hamilton County on Chickamauga Lake between Dallas Bay and the Sequoyah Nuclear Power Plant.

Size: 1.7 square miles

Population: 1,978

Founded: In 1972, the city was incorporated from a subdivision with about 200 homes. It was expanded through annexations in the 1990s.

Government: Ken Wilkerson, chief of Hamilton County Emergency Medical Services, is mayor and chairman of the five-member City Commission, which also includes Vice Mayor John McPherson and commissioners Valerie Boddy, David Howell and William Neighbors.

Schools: Lakesite is near two schools, McConnell Elementary and Loftis Middle.

Median household income: $72,833

Amenities: Daily Grind Cafe, a coffee and sandwich shop that began in October at 8513 Hixson Pike, is open for breakfast and lunch.

Fun fact: Lakesite City Manager David Edwards is a political science professor at UTC. Edwards has served as city manager since 1992.
