Bryant Dewayne Cannon

A local man whose 18-year prison sentence was suspended in 2011 is charged with violating his probation and will go before a judge to explain why he should not serve his sentence.

And it isn't the first time Bryant Cannon, 24, has been accused of failing to meet the terms of his probation.

Cannon made Hamilton County's Top 12 Most Wanted list in 2011 and was among 14 arrested in a three-day operation targeting people involved in gang-related crimes, Times Free Press archives show. That arrest came just months after he pleaded guilty to statutory rape and four months after his original probation was issued.

In 2008 Cannon pleaded guilty to facilitation to commit second-degree murder and robbery and was sentenced to 16 years in the Tennessee Department of Correction. Then in March of 2011 he picked up an additional two years on the rape charge that was to be served consecutive to his first sentence.

In 2013 and 2014 Cannon failed to provide employment verification during eight months of his probation and has consistently failed to report to a parole officer as required, a probation violation report shows.

He also owes $1,135 in probation fees and $16,673 in court costs and fines that he has neglected making payments on. He tested positive for marijuana twice in 2013, records show.

Most recently, he failed to report on March 18.
