3 arrested after shooting at Tennessee Highway Patrol officer on I-75

Three people are in custody after shots were fired at a Tennessee Highway Patrol officer this morning in Loudon County.

An officer stopped the vehicle on I-75 northbound near the Philadelphia exit on suspicion of impaired driving, a THP spokesman said.

Then the shots were fired and the suspects in the vehicle fled. They were apprehended a few miles from the scene of the traffic stop.

The officer was not struck in the exchange.
