Memphis man admits to stabbing mother to death

MEMPHIS - A Memphis man who admitted to stabbing his mother to death has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

WMC-TV is reporting that 24-year-old William Patrick Walsh received the sentence Monday after he pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.

Walsh was arrested in April 2012 after police found his mother lying dead on a sofa with multiple lacerations to her head and face.

Walsh lived with his parents, and the parents reportedly spoke to him around 1 a.m. because he was making too much noise. A police affidavit said that Walsh walked into his father's room between 5:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. and told his father that he had "done something terrible" and "killed someone."
