Nashville theater teacher under investigation for 'inappropriate conduct' with minor

Metro police are investigating allegations that a theater teacher at Nashville School of the Arts and 29-year veteran of the district had "inappropriate conduct" with a minor.

John Newsom Jr., teacher at MNPS since 1985, was put on paid administrative leave last month pending the investigation, which Metro Nashville Police spokesman Don Aaron said resulted from information the department received in late April.

He declined to elaborate on the nature of the conduct that has been alleged.
